Dublin Students are Praying! | Print |
Monday, 10 December 2007

The Presidents of all the different Christian Unions in Dublin met up in an effort to create more unity between the various colleges. It was decided that we would run a prayer week to give us an opportunity to learn more about the different CU’s and what they are doing and encourage, support each other through prayer.

The colleges involved were DCU, UCD, DIT, Trinity, CICE and NCAD. A list of prayer requests for all the CU’s was compiled and each day was taken on by a different CU with some of the smaller CU’s filling in the gaps. The main focus on the different events and meetings being run by the CU’s. It was a huge encouragement to see the wide variety of events that were going on in the various campus’ across the city.

In UCD the focus was on our Carol Service which is one of the biggest events that we run all year. We held our prayer day on the Wednesday of the Carol service, it started at 8am and ran right through to our carol service. The Prayer room was setup in the Contemplation room in the campus and different members of the CU used it throughout the day. This time of prayer was the foundation we needed for the carol service and reminded us what it was all about.

The prayer week helped give us focus as different CU’s of different sizes and colleges to come together in a unity which resulted in a greater awareness of how God is moving in the CU’s. We are looking forward to having Pete Greig come and speak to the Dublin Cu’s in January on Prayer & Mission as out next joint event.
