Kingdom Come 2012
2011 was an amazing year of kingdom advancement in Ireland. 24-7prayerireland and Alpha partnered up to facilitate a year of prayer across the nation! Almost 200 churches/communities/agencies got involved in praying throughout 2011, responding to the question What if? based on the great promise of God in 2 Chronicles 7:14. We have been so encouraged by the stories filtering back to us (check out some of these highlights here http://24-7prayerireland.com/what-if/) that we had to keep going in 2012!!
The exciting thing about 2012 is that 24-7prayerireland are joining in with 24-7prayerUK and Alpha Uk for what is being called Kingdom Come 2012:A year of prayer for the UK and Ireland. (KC2012). Check out http://uk.24-7prayer.com/kingdomcome/ for more details on this amazing initiative.
As part of KC2012, here in Ireland we want to continue to build on the momentum of prayer created over the past year and as we prayed through the question of ‘what next?’ alongside ‘what if?’ we sensed God whisper ‘more’! In 2012 we are asking God to give us faith for more – more prayer; more unity; more mission – so that ultimately we can see more of His kingdom come in our land!
We are asking churches/agencies to get involved this year in the following ways…
- more Prayer: rooms to rhythms – if you hosted a prayer room in the past why not explore moving into a regular rhythm (discipline) of prayer this year? There is something incredibly powerful that happens when we build prayer into the core life of our churches and communities. Equally if you have never tried hosting a prayer room before – this is a great place to start.
- more Unity: me to us – if you prayed on your own in the past why not intentionally seek unity this year by praying with others? Some of Jesus last words, before He went to the cross for us, included a passionate prayer that His followers would be one. Our unity makes God visible. During 2011 we witnessed some incredible forms of unity as churches got together to pray in their local areas. Our prayer is that throughout 2012 this would only deepen and develop in Christ-like genuine love for one another.
- more Mission: here to there - if you prayed for your own area this year why not invite God to burden you with another place in Ireland to go and pray for this year? Part of our growing up in prayer is praying beyond ourselves. We feel challenged to save some of our best prayers for places beyond our own locations and to rediscover the ancient art of pilgrimage that this nation has such a rich heritage in! Imagine tribes of Jesus followers, blown by the Spirit of God back and forth across this nation crying out to the Father to move in our land. We want to encourage people to connect with others in different areas of Ireland and then to actually ‘GO’ to those places and pray. You can simply take one of the stakes from the Revival Run, plant it in the ground and pray for that area.
KC2012 here in Ireland will continue to have a monthly focus on different counties/towns similar to whatif 2011, with the hope that the hubs of kingdom people connecting in provincial towns and cities across the land will be strengthened and motivated to further prayer, unity and mission. The calendar showing the monthly focus can be seen below. One difference from 2011 it is worth pointing out is plan for the summer months. We plan in 2012 to tap into all the many forms of mission that happen in Ireland both at home and abroad during July and August. We will serve the many great agencies that facilitate mission and summer teams in our nation by resourcing them in prayer and encouraging their teams to take ‘prayer on mission.’
Please get in touch with us here if you have any queries and we would love to hear your stories so please stay in touch…
